Walk through DOC Pohutukawa forest along the cliff-tops to secluded Orokawa Bay, then a left turn into nikau palms as you head up the creek to the stunning Willam Wright Falls. The creek and the falls cut through cool volcanic rock formations.  The William Wright Falls are located 40 minutes inland from the northern end of Orokawa Bay. The track is tramping grade with multiple stream crossings.  Orokawa Bay surrounding area is designated a scenic reserve and comprises of 145 hectares of native bush, which includes Pohutukawa kauri, puriri trees and the always abundant Nikau palms.  Because of the stream crossings and unstable ground this is level 4 walk.


  • Walking Poles (recommended)
  • Waterproof shoes
