Join us for a captivating bird-watching adventure around the picturesque landscapes of Omokoroa. This event is perfect for nature enthusiasts, families, and anyone interested in learning more about local Ōmokoroa birdlife.
We will begin our journey at the serene Precious Reserve, setting the stage for an afternoon immersed in nature's beauty. From there, we'll trace the path around the Omokoroa Golf Course, offering glimpses of open spaces and targeted plantings where birds often congregate. Our walk will take us past the scenic Peach Beach Point, a spot known for its breathtaking views and diverse bird activity.
Continuing, we'll venture through the pathways leading to the back of Western Avenue. This segment of the walk offers a peaceful experience, with opportunities to spot birds nestled in their natural habitats. Finally, we will circle back to our starting point at Precious Reserve, completing our enriching expedition.
Birds to Watch For:
Our walk may reward us with sightings of a rich variety of bird species, including some rarer finds:
Spoonbills: If we're fortunate, we might witness large gatherings of 60 plus.
Grey Teal and Paradise Shelduck
Caspian Terns and Northern Dotterel
Banded Rail Dotterel and White-faced Heron
Fern Bird and both Little Black Shags and Little Shags
Variable Oyster Catchers and South Island Pied Oyster Catchers
Kingfisher and possibly even the Juvenile Bar-tailed Godwit
Silver Eye and the majestic Australasian Harrier
