Ocean kayaking to Whenuakura Island.  Our guides for the day are from Surfsup NZ. A short kayak to Whenuakura (Donut) Island will be rewarded with unforgettable and breathtaking scenery that inspires the imagination. The stunning Whenuakura Island, is one of a group of islands off the coast of Whangamata which have wildlife sanctuary status. As Guardians of the islands our tours encourage you to treat the islands with respect to preserve their future. All tours are condition dependent, due to the unpredictable nature of the ocean. We thank you in advance for understanding.

Cost includes:

  • Kayak & Paddle set up on the beach
  • Local Guide
  • Life Jacket
  • Dry Bag
  • Wetsuit

In case of conditions are not suitable for ocean kayaking or entering Whenuakura Island we will go to OPTION 2.

Meet at Beach Rd reserve by the boat ramp, paddle on kayaks across to the Peninsula and walk the track to the Peninsula lookout.

Minimum numbers 4. Maximum numbers 16.

Medium level of fitness required.

Total time: 2 - 3 hrs Cost: $65

PLEASE NOTE: Participants are responsible for their own safety equipment, food, water, clothing and vehicles.

The Festival is a non-profit event which relies heavily on volunteers, and donations to help pay for the organisation and promotion of the month-long event.

Any contribution received towards ECHO is greatly appreciated and helps to ensure the success and continuation of the festival.
