Take a golden trip behind the scenes of the Martha Mine workings in Waihi. Go under, up, through and over as you travel the conveyor belt route taking in views and historic sites along the way. Maximum number 30, so bookings essential. Not suitable for pushchairs and young children.

The 2.7 km conveyor belt route travels from the Martha Mine, under the State Highway, up Union Hill, through old mine workings and then over to the mine processing plant. Once there you'll have a special view of the whole operation from a very different perspective. Mine staff will convey (that's explain) the mining operations from your vantage point, and then it's back, through, down and under, following the conveyor belt route to your starting point 2.7 kms away. This walk is dependant on operational requirements of the mine at that time as it travels beside the conveyor route of an operating gold mine. You must wear sturdy closed in shoes.
